What is Radiography, Radiotherapy , Radiographer and therapeutic radiographer?
what is radiography & Radiotherapy simply put, radiography is the process of diagnosing diseases by radiation, and radiotherapy is the treatment of patients with radiation. the technologist who performs these procedures are called a Radiographer and Radiotherapist.
When we say radiation, we feel a little scared. This is mainly because it is a bit difficult to obtain accurate scientific information about this radiation effects.
I think due to the busy schedule of public/private hospitals today, there is no time for professionals who have expertise in this field to pass on the correct knowledge to the patient and correct their misconceptions.
For these two reasons I have decided to simply tell you what this radiation is from today, and how this radiation can be useful to us in medicine.
What is this radiation and radiography
Simply put, radiation is a kind of electromagnetic wave, similar to the light waves we know.
In medicine, we use X-rays, UV rays, gamma rays which are in a slightly higher frequency range. None of these rays is visible to our naked eye.
Is radiation harmful to us?
If you answer this directly, you will have to say yes. But continue reading this article without stopping here. Then you will be able to change your attitude towards radiation for a while.
I would like to say that radiation is dangerous without being harmful. If they are harmful, they must be harmful when they enter the body. But the risk is a little different.
It can be harmful and if the right methods are followed there can be no harm.

A doctor will refer you for a Radiological examination because it is a matter of urgency. Also, a medical radiologic technologist can perform your test with the highest quality with the lowest dose of radiation. But if you skip the test due to undue fear, the disease can cause even greater harm.
Why is radiation used in medicine?
Western medicine uses two basic methods to diagnose a condition that affects us. One is by identifying the chemical changes that have taken place in the patient’s body (laboratory tests are needed here) and the other is by identifying the physical changes that he is showing in the patient’s body.
Although changes in the outside of our body can be easily identified, recognizing changes in the inside of our body is not an easy task. That’s when diagnostic radiography comes to our aid.
Radiation technology can be used to diagnose and treat a disease within the body, with or without surgery. For these reasons, industrial radiography is known as the eye of modern Western medicine.
There are several types of radiation technology that we hear and see in our daily lives. Examples are ultrasound scan (USS), X-ray(plain radiography , conventional radiography, computed radiography), CT scan (ct in radiology) and MRI scan.
Is radiation technology used only to diagnose diseases?
not. Radiation technology is now being used successfully to treat certain diseases. This is called radiotherapy and manipulate by therapeutic radiographer
